#54 🚀 Building Your UX Career Elsewhere
Every time I moved abroad, I worried about my career. Would I have to start from scratch? Would my experience translate?
Every time I moved abroad, I worried about my career. Would I have to start from scratch? Would my experience translate?
In the last 20 years, I lived in all these countries:
🇹🇷 Turkey
🇺🇸 The US
🇮🇹 Italy
🇫🇷 France
🇪🇬 Egypt
🇦🇲 Armenia
🇳🇱 Netherlands
🇪🇸 Spain
I’ve lived, worked, and restarted my career in all these places.
But do you want to know the reality? It’s not about starting over—it’s about reframing your experience for a different cultural and professional context.
Some questions matter:
✔️ How do you craft a CV that fits the local market? How do you gain referrals? How do you connect with companies and individuals the right way?
✔️ How you stand out in one country might not be as compelling in another—but that doesn’t mean you don’t bring something unique. How can you handle the change?
I’ve learned that moving abroad isn’t about erasing what you’ve built—it’s about learning to position yourself in a new way. And that’s a skill in itself.
I hear that many folks, especially from the U.S., are considering moving elsewhere. Is that you?
I’m curious—DM me, let’s talk.
P.S. This is me in Hawaii. I can't wait to go back.
