#20 Creating positivity through your messages
If you know your colleagues could be at risk of anxiety and burnout, why not share your observations when they do great work?

In my latest monthly paid article, I discussed the importance of being mindful of the mindset of people who work with you in tech.
We cannot hide from it: Anxiety and burnout are real issues in tech. No office perks like free coffee, fruits, or yoga rooms can change that.
My proposal, based on research with tech professionals, is simple:
1️⃣ Understand the psychology of people working in tech, and learn how anxiety and burnout influence their collaboration styles and decision-making.
2️⃣ Explore how effective writing and communication can uplift your colleagues and get them to say yes more often. That's a win-win for everyone.
One recommendation for this is about creating “genuine” positivity through your messages.
Recognizing achievements and providing positive feedback in writing can be helpful. Sharing positive recognition not only boosts morale but also helps reduce stress by making employees feel valued and appreciated.
So why don’t you:
Recognize a small victory of a colleague (e.g., privately or in a group setup, whichever they prefer).
Take a moment to say you notice how hard your colleague is trying despite challenges, and that you’re inspired by their example.
Share how your colleague’s presence improves your work and their ways of working with the broader team.
Make the requests you need to make. Challenge your colleagues as you need to. But adding “genuine” positivity through your messages regularly will help your team members feel better, especially if they’re actively battling anxiety and burnout or are at risk of doing so.
